2. The larger than necessary unit will cycle on and off more frequently, which will reduce its efficiency. Frequent cycling makes indoor temperatures change more and results in a less than comfortable environment. Frequent cycling also reduces moisture removal. In humid climates, like Philadelphia, removal of humidity is critical for comfort. This short cycling also accelerates the deterioration of all the appliance’s components.
3. A larger air conditioner will use more electricity and create added demands on electrical generation and wiring systems.
